New Update

Finally, the website updated.  Apologies to everyone for the delay.  Life has been quite busy during the active campaigning season.  The new Mountain Howtizer has taken the field.  Photos will be supplied shortly.

The Unit History has been updated with a history of William McGregor and the 2nd Stuart Horse Artillery.  Please see the Event Photos for images of our artillery section.

Cannon Project

The work nevers seems to stop.  McGregor's Battery has sent in an update on the new cannon project with updated information.

The new gun is a 1841 pack carriage (mule carriage) and the barrel is fashioned from the 1841 12-pound Mountain Howtizer from Hern Ironworks.  No photos of the barrel are available yet from our fine artillery section.  One may see photos at  Hern Ironworks.

Spring Drill

It's no use complaining about the awful winter and the height of the snowbanks.  Suffice it to say that this winter of ice and rain and snow was not conducive to winter riding.  So it was with happy hearts 15 March came and the spring muster.  We won't mention the snow storm for tonight with an estimated 9 inches of snow.

Winter Quarters

Just because the campaign season has been over for a little while doesn't mean that we've not been busy getting ready for the next campaign.  While some of us have been trying to wait out the bad weather and layers of ice to get out and do some winter riding, others have been busy inside.

A few gentlemen have been working on the newest addition to McGregor's Battery:  a Model 1841 Prairie Carriage.  The axles and trail pieces are being created out of solid oak to military specifications.  The antique wheels are near completion in the restoration process.  The field piece should be ready for Cannon School in May.
