DETAILS:

Plan to arrive on Friday Eve or Saturday AM, and set up camp, the battle will be Sunday, allowing you time to conduct patrols and drill your men after arriving. Who knows, your patrols may encounter the enemy during routine maneuvers!!

Saturday’s primary activity will be a Federal flag dedication featuring cannon salute and mounted federal participants at 2:30 pm. All personal dressed in Federal Uniform are invited to participate.

Sunday’s battle will be a skirmish over Taylor’s ford the only possible river crossing within 20 miles on the Potomac. The ford leads to the community of Taylorsville, which is of critical tactical importance to support the Confederate advance into Maryland. The Federals will hold the ford on the Maryland side of the Potomac. The Confederates will demonstrate on the Virginia side of the ford and push across the ford, before being pushed back across the river into Virginia.

This spectacular 800 acre parcel will allow the opportunity to conduct patrols out of sight of the enemy, experience chance encounters, and ultimately battle over this most important river crossing, with both sides taking and giving ground. The battle will end when one side is forced to fall back and surrender the field.

Artillery will play a critical role in defending the ford as well as protecting advancing troops during the assaults. Special provisions are being made to allow for the artillery to be properly placed and defended.

Our intention is that this will have the feel of tactical with only a basic outline for the overall commands to work within. Overall unit commanders will "run" their armies as they see fit.
